♥ A few of my personal faves are:
Travel with an iPod or cellphone loaded with their favorite movies or a small portable DVD player or iPad/Kindle/Tablet so little ones can watch movies THEY like (not just whatever happens to be showing on the plane) Be sure to test the ear buds or noise cancelling head phones before the trip to make sure youngsters are comfortable and so they can get used to the idea of something in their ears or on their head. Do a practice run if this is all new to them. Make it super fun and special - something to look forward to! ♥ If you only have one iPod - there are "splitter" devices so you can plug two head phones into the same iPod jack!
Snacks and drinks for ascending and descending: Little ones don't know how to pop their own ears or how to do the valsalva method. (pinch nose and blow) That's why we always hear cranky, crying babies when it's time to land... poor little things - they're in PAIN!! Get 'em swallowing. Juices, water, nursing - any liquid will work - the constant swallowing is what you're striving for! Have some salty "thirst-making" snacks on hand during the flight so they will have the natural urge to drink, drink, drink the last 10 - 20 minutes of the flight! (then be prepared to make a potty pit stop in the terminal the second ya get off the plane! - ha ha!) Listen for the speaker announcement that they are about to begin the final descent- then pull out the goodies! If you bring sweet snacks - make 'em sugar free - no chocolate! Otherwise you'll end up with antsy, wiggly, wound up kiddos and they may get loud and squirmy!
Tip about toys: Mamma knows best what they are "in" to currently. So find no-noise (no batteries necessary) activities that you know they enjoy, but bring NEW ones. Something they haven't seen before. A brand new toy or a new coloring book. If it's something you think they might fight over - bring one for each child! I personally like those sticky-gel window cling things they can place on the tray table or back of the seat in front of the, They come off easily and are super cheap at the dollar tree or 99 cents only store! Note: stickers can be fun too - but be sure to bring blank paper for them to decorate so they wont be tempted to put stickers all over the windows, seats and head rests! Stickers might not come off!
FUN TIP ♥ I've even gone as far as wrapping new toys in gift wrap so they feel like they are opening presents as a reward for their good behavior (or for their first-time inaugural flight!!) A plane party!
♥ ♥ Two of my fail safe flying tips.
1. Seat the kiddos by the window and have them point to things below. Challenge them to spot buildings or a lake or snow on a mountain top. (Cars and people when you are closer to the ground) This works well as a distraction if you have a fearful flyer - especially when initially taking off. Note; if your child is prone to motion sickness or gets car-sick, it is possible they may also get airsick if they watch the peripheral motion out the window. Use your best judgement.
2. Let the child ask the flight attendant for their own snacks, meals, drink! Or ordering for themselves may make them feel grown up and responsible (in hopes that maybe they will behave that way!) Don't forget to ask your attendant if they give out the plastic pilot wings! (not for toddlers - wings usually have a pin on the back - OUCH!!!)
♥ Lastly - If you have a child who is still sorta potty training, put on a pull-up or diaper just to take the pressure off of you and the child. That way an accident is "ok" and not a huge clean up issue. Besides... walking down a long narrow isle with a child to go into a teeny tiny claustrophobic plane potty is hard enough by yourself - let alone with two or more kids!! (((shudder))))
Oh ... and be sure to locate the barf bags in your front seat pocket - just in case ya need to grab it quickly! I often bring my own travel barf bags! Ugh - sorry... had to mention that one! But it's best to be prepared!

I’ve had experience working with Toddler Potty Training Toilets that cost $400+ (yes, that’s a thing!) and ones that are only $5 (the cheaper ones usually fall apart quickly). These are MY favorites and most reasonable in price. The kiddos love them - they are close to the ground, comfortable, sturdy and easy to get onto:
